CONSERVATOR OF FORESTS

Mr H.V. Hinds For City Post

Mr H. V. Hinds, who has had wide experience in forestry work in New Zealand and overseas, will take up duties on August 21 as Conservator of Forests in Christchurch in place of Mr A N. Sexton, who has been appointed to a similar position in Auckland. Mr Hinds worked in the Colonial Forest Service in Malaya before and during World War 11, after which he arrived in New Zealand and became senior forester at Rotorua. He was later appointed acting-head of the Forest Research Institute and for a number of years was the senior silvicultural officer for New Zealand at Wellington. He recently returned from a long seed-collecting trip through Mexico, where he collected a wide variety of pine species which will be tried in New Zealand conditions.
