The rebel commander in the Algiers region, Si i Mahomed, aged 35, was killed in a clash with French forces near Blida. south of Algiers, on Monday night, official French sources, quoted by i the “Daily Telegraph," mid 1 The newspaper said Si i Mahomed, one of the most feared rebel leaders, had been hiding in the Blida region for three weeks. On i Monday night he led a raid ’ into Blida, but the French surrounded his group in a i villa. In a short, sharp battle. Si Mahomed and six of his foli lowers were killed, the French sources said.
