PILOT STILL ON CANBERRA
Launch Turned Back By Seas (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 8. \ to , heav y seas at the Wellington heads this morning the deputy harbourmaster <Captain R. E. Suckling) who piloted the Canberra from her berth at Aotea Quay, was unable to be taken off by the pilot launch and is on his way to Sydney. He will be flown back. "The launch never went outside." said the harbourmaster (Captain D. M. T. Toddi. “It was too dirty and she went as far as Steeple Rock only. No attempts were made to take off the pilot.” The Canberra left her berth at 2.30 a.m. and cleared the heads without any difficulty about 3.10 a.m.
