MARKETING WOOL CLIP
Important Step Forward
An important step forward in the orderly marketing of New Zealand's growing woo! clip was taken during the year, according to the annual report of the New Zealand Wool Board. It was commenting on the decision of the wool auction sales committee to introduce a system of wool sales at 28dav intervals at the main ■selling centres in the 1963-64 season. Under the proposed system of having two sales in each island week about—in the South Island on Thursday and Monday and then in the North Island on the following Thursdav and Monday—buvers would be offered a greater variety of wool at more frequent intervals, it stated It had been recognised the need for a radical change in ’he selling roster. In the last 30 years the quantity of wool sold at auction in New Zealand had increased almost three-fold. The exact form the new roster would take had not been finally fixed yet; but if the main season extended from October to June as at present, with winter sales in addition, it was likely there would be eight or nine sales in each of the main centres— Auckland. Napier. Wanganui, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.
