S. Pacific Makes Gold Bricks
(N.Z. Press Association) THAMES, August 8. South Pacific ■ Mines, Ltd., yesterday produced the first gold brick from placer activities aj the old Waikino battery site near Waihi. The brjck weighed 100 ounces. Earlier parcels of concentrates had been treated overseas but with all facilities now available at the battery site, and with a huge tonnage of concentrates available. further regular returns are anticipated. Carlton Brewery, _ Carlton Brewery, Ltd, Melbourne, a major holding company in Carlton and United Breweries, Ltd., earned net profit for the half-year ended June 30 of £184,069 (up £2867). Interim dividend is a steady 5 per cent. Last year a final 8 per cent, made a total of 13 per cent. Dividends received from Carlton and United were practically unchanged. directors report.
