CENTRE’S FUNDS
Lew On Clubs Proposed Realisation that the profit of the Canterbury Swimmine Centre had dropped steadily in the last five years led the management committee of the centre to frame a notice of motion on a club levy at its meeting last evening The notice of motion will be presented at the annual meeting of the centre. The suggestion contained in the motion is that a levy be imposed on all clubs at a rate of £2 2s a delegate for the 1961-62 season. Mr E. C. S’entiford acknowledged that the centre was not in a good position financially. “The only people we can turn to are the clubs," he said. “But 1 would not like to see the affiliation fees raised I think it would be bet’er this year to impose a levy rather than ask for a donation.” The treasurer (Mr C. E MacDonald) agreed that the centre’s financial position was “fairly nebulous." The centre could consider putting the levy on a permanent basis. “After all, the clubs are getting it back,” he said.
