Christchurch Tributes
The opening of the quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court and the usual Magistrate’s Court sittings were adjourned for one hour yesterday as a mark of respect to Sir Sidney Holland. Both Courts opened at 11 a.m. Mr Justice Macarthur and Mr Justice Richmond took their place cn the Supreme Court Bench at 10 am., when the criminal session was originally scheduled to start Announcing the adjournment Mr Justice Macarthur said the funeral service of Sir Sidney Holland was at that moment about to begin in Wellington. “Sir Sidney Holland not only held the office of Prime Minister of New Zealand but he was also a distinguished citizen of Christchurch," he said Members of the Christchurch Presbytery stood in silence for a few moments at their monthly meeting last evening The Moaerator (Mr C. C. Wilson) said that Sir Sidney Holland had always shown tolerrnce to the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand, although he was of another denomination.
