SPANISH APSE REBUILT IN NEW YORK.—This 800-year-old apse, all that was left of St. Martin’s Church, Fuentiduena, Spain, has been reassembled at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Every one of the 3300 stones was numbered, measured, and photographed before the transfer. In return for the apse, the New York museum agreed to provide funds for the restoration of another church in Fuentiduena, and to deposit in the Prado Museum, Madrid, six fresco paintings long desired by the Spaniards.
