Dogs On Beaches
Sir,—Would it not be advisable to order the destruction of all dogs in this country other than those required for essential work on farms? These, of course, should be kept in strict and impenetrable confinement when not performing their canine duties so that the dangers of their coming in contact with children could be suitably eliminated. Then, and only then, would toddlers, wee bairns, tiny tots, kiddies; or whatever other nauseating diminutlyes for our over-pro-
tected young “Anti-hydatids” can think up, be safe from, all unhygienic associations. There is, of course, one other alternative: their parents might take ordinary, common-sense steps to look after them in the sort of circumstances described by your correspondent. Or is this expecting too much? —Yours, etc., BOADICEA. July 17, 1961.
