Labour Party Social.— The first anniversary of the St. Albans women’s branch of the Labour Party was celebrated recently by a social evening. Mr Edwin Brownlee showed films taken on a recent world tour and gave a commentary. The president (Mrs N. Pickering) welcomed guests and thanked the branch fbr its help to the Labour Party. Mrs T. D Rodgers, the first enrolled member of the branch, cut the birthday cake. League of Mothers.— The Mairehau branch of the League of Mothers held its eighth birthday meeting recently. when Mrs F. R. Brierley presided. Miss H. K. Lovell-Smith gave a talk on the work of the National Council of Women. Members of the committee presented a sketch on a fashion parade. Mrs R. Smith sang a solo, accompanied by Mrs M. Barnett.
