England, who served in the Herefordshire Regiment in ■ the Dardanelles Campaign in the First World War, has ; privately published a short , account of the campaign. A ; copy has been accepted and placed in the War Office library. j Mr Slayimaker enlisted on ; the first day of the war and ’ served on the staff of the • 160th Brigade at the Suvla ‘ Bay landing. [ The Duke of Gloucester, • wtho made a tour of the Dardanelies battlefield and war ‘ cemeteries, has paid a tri- ! bute to Mr Slaymaker for ; his book. : A military historian has written of Mr Slaymaker's ! account: "This is by far and ' away the most lucid exposition of the factors involved 1 that I have ever read, and • it is not too much to say that I have learned more ‘ from it than from many ’ weightier tomes on the sub- } ject.” ‘ Cyclist Injured When she was knocked off ■ her bicycle by a car at the intersection of Waterloo and Carmen roads about 7.57 a.m. yesterday, Mrs L. Baker, of 26 Pinehurst crescent, suffered head injuries. She was taken by St. John ambulance to Princess Margaret Hospital and admitted. j £23 Stolen.
