Airport Aerials To Be Moved

Many of the transmitter aerials and antennae at the Christchurch airport are to be removed to make way for the second stage of the parking area development. About September a new Site to the north-east of the airfield, near the Harewood golf course, will be developed to accommodate a transmitter building and its masts and aerials.

The first tall mast to go will be that carrying the anemometer. This is to be sited at the Greys road end of the airport so that it will be clear of all obstructions and so ensure accurate wind speed and direction readings. The new cable duet across the airfield to the terminal area is expected to be completed very soon.
