POSITION OF DAIRYING

“Government Understands'” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 14. The chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, Mr A. Linton, said today that after an address by the -Minister of Agriculture (Mr Hayman) at the recent Dominion dairy conference, the board was satisfied that the point of view of the dairy industry on various matters was fully understood and appreciated by the Minister and the Government.

He was referring to the dairy industry's viewpoint on the country's future economic position, the local mark.et issue, and other matters of concern to the industry.

“Since the conference, the Minister has published explanations of his remarks at the conference, and has clarified the meaning of those remarks," said Mr Linton. “These were subject to some considerable misunderstanding and apprehension at the

time on the part of the industry.

“As a result of these, and our further discussions, we are satisfied that the Minister will press the industry's case with Cabinet on the issues now confronting us.”
