HORSE SHOW PROFIT

Allegations Of Party

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 13. A party that allegedly cost more than £2OO was discussed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Horse Society today. A member asked if the rumour that the Auckland branch of the society had taken more than £2OO out of the Horse of the Year Show profit and spent it on a party was true. “A very considerable profit was made and I certainly am not going to continue giving help to the society if its funds are going to be frittered away.” said the member.

Mr H. B. Johnson (Auckland) replied that at no time in the history of the society had a Horse cf the Year Show made a profit until the one conducted last year by Auckland. “We consider that if we made a substantial profit, why should it be frittered away by other areas. As it is we have handed the socie’.v a profit of £255." said Mr Johnson.

He said that a certain amount of entertaining had to be done. An evening had been put on to welcome Miss Pat Smythe to New Zealand. “The money was well spent,” said Mr Johnson.
