Smith Accepts Cup Mount (N.Z. Press Arsn.—Copyright) BRISBANE. July 13. The New Zealand jockey. W. A. Smith, hopes to ride his second successive Melbourne Cup winner this year. Smith won the 1960 Melbourne Cup on H!-Jinx and has tentatively accepted an engagement for the mare for the cup this year. Archer is the only horse to win twi> successive Melbourne Cups. These were the first two in 1881 and 1862. “Hi-Jinx is coming from New Zealand for the cup again.” Smith said. “I have agreed to take the mount provided she shows worthwhile form leading up to the race.” Smith will stay in Brisbane until after the exhibition meeting in August.
