Two former world boxing champions, Jimmy Carruthers (Australia) and Vic Toweel (South Africa >. who both retired in 1954. may fight again. Toweel, who lost his world bantam-weight crown to Carruthers in 1952, announced today that he wants to follow Carruthers’s example and make a comeback. Carruthers, who retired as unbeaten champion seven years ago, announced his eome-back last week in Sydney. The Transvaal National Boxing Club is exploring the possibility of matching the 32-year-old “veterans.” Toweel has said that he would like to meet Carruthers again and avenge lus twn previous defeats.
