Talks On Cable Jointers’ Strike

INZ. Prefs Association I WELLINGTON. July 13 The Wellington City Council’s special sub-committee on the cable jointers’ strike will meet the assistant-Secretary of Labour (Mr H Parsonage) tomorrow to try to bring the strike to an end. Today, the council informed Mr Parsonage that it could not accept the North Island Electrical Workers' Union's order of reference to be put before an independent arbitrator. Earlier, the union had rejected an order of reference offered by the council. Mr Parsonage said he had been in touch with both parties today in an attempt to And a solution, but without success. The Mayor (Mr F J Kitts), however, had asked for a meeting with him tomorrow, and this had been agreed to.
