Workers Back In Algeria

Moslem workers returned to work in Algiers today and Moslem shops were open as usual after yesterday’s in-surgent-called strike and nationalist demonstrations. A Moslem policeman died in hospital early today, bringing the death roll in the demonstrations in Algiers. Oran and B’.ida—for a resumption of Franco-insurgent peace talks, and against the partition of Algeria—to 11 dead and 70 injured. The towns were calm today, but the Moslem suburbs of Algiers and the central oasbah were still encircled by French armour and riot police.
