Navy League Dance.— Cadets from the Merchant ; Navy ship Otaio were partnered by members from the Junior Navy League at a dance given by the women’s auxiliary of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League. Committee members who helped to organise the dance included Mesdames G. G. Simpson, D. Clarkson. L. B Allan, K. B. Smith, W. Somers Cox, I, Treleaven, F. T. Peek. W. S. Mac Gibbon. Supper was provided by the committee. Birthday Party — Mrs W G Guileford welcomed about 150 visitors and members to the twenty-eighth birthday party of the Halswell branch of the Women’s. Division of Federated Farmers. A musical programme was presented ■Mrs J Blamires presented cups and trophies wen during the years to Mesdames J Slack. H. Hayes? E Gates. J Saunders, F. Chapman and M.
