UNUSUAL DEATH
Man Falls On Broken Glass (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 3. A young man died on the way to Wellington Hospital after an unusual accident in the Metropolitan Hotel, Molesworth street, on Saturday night. He was: Robert William Stacey, aged 19, of Seddon, Marlborough. who. with a companion, was a guest in the hotel. Soon after 8 p.m., Mr Stacey bought six bottles of beer and took them to his room upstairs. On the way down a short time later, he tripped and fell, the beer dropped to the floor, and several bottles were broken. Fell On Glaus
He fell on one of the broken bottles, the point of which pierced his neck. Holding his throat, and with blood dripping through his fingers, Mr Stacey staggered into the bar. An ambulance was called and he was taken to Wellington Hospital, but when it arrived, he was dead. No Foul Play The police were notified and suspecting foul play, the Criminal Investigation Branch was called in. Inquiries showed that Mr Stacey had suffered the injuries accidentally.
