CUP RACE TROPHY

Suggestion For Change A recommendation to the Incoming committee to consider reinstating a cup as the trophy attached to the New Zealand Cup at Addington in November was passed on - a show of hands at the annual meeting' of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club last evening. It had been a bad decision to change from a cup to the present system of a challenge cup and a silver salver, said Mr D. D. Moore Smaller clubs, both galloping and trotting. in other places were j able to provide cups, which owners valued more than the trophies attached to the New Zealand Cup, he said. The question had come up on different occasions, said the honorary treasurer <Mr C. S. Thomas). The club had tried all over the country for cups without success. Some of those presented had jbeen old ones which the club had had refurbished. Some of the cups the club had had offered to it had been so poor that the committee had felt it would have been ashamed to have presented them to any owner. That was why it had been decided to obtain a challenge cup and give a trophy. He had seen photographs of cups being presented at both galloping and trotting meetings throughout New Zealand. which suggested that such trophies were available, said Mr C. b. Rhodes.
