Dunray, True Cavalier Win At Hastings

Dunray and True Cavalier, aspirants for major jumping honours at Trantham this week, were successful on the last day of the Hawke's Bay winter meeting on Saturday, but their counterparts on the fiat, with „he exception of Tamil, did not measure up to expectations.

Dunray** win in the Hastings Steeplechase was fortuitous. He got elose to several fences and was conceding at least three lengths to the leader. Sir Totara, when! the latter fell at the final fence. True Cavalier won the Hawke’S Bay Hurdles for the second consecutive year in a tight finish with Count Lin It was his first attempt in the role this winter and after either sharing or making the pace from the outset he fought on courageously when Count Lin appeared to have his measure short of the post. King of Joy also came home well for third, half a length away, and there were three lengthe then to Bookful. Tilly Light was next and then came Royal Pepeta. Disorder, Toureg, Yorker, Swrobin, Howe Fair, Tariugama, and Duplication. Roving Boy was last.
