Wingatui Horses On Way To Trentham

The leading trainer, H. T. Anderton, brought three members of his Wingatui team to Riccarton on Saturday.

Promise, Ravelston and No Offence have engagements at Trentham and will be taken north tomorrow evening. Promise, winner of his last two races over hurdles, will have his first test in the open grade in the Trentham Hurdles on Saturday. He will be ridden by B. P. Kennedy. Kennedy will also ride No Offence in the Wellington Steeplechase and Gay Mood in the Mariri Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase Gay Mood, Which is trained a<t Wingatui by his owner. W. J Hewitt, will also go north tomorrow Ravelston will represent the Anderton stable in the Whyte Handicap, in which he will be ridden by H. T. Anderton. Re was unplaced in the Donald Grant Memorial at Washdyke on Saturday but could be all the better for that race. He missed a gallop because of the condition of the tracks at Wingatui last week. Desert Chief Desert Chief, another successful Wingatui galloper engaged in the Whyte Handicap, also came to Riccarton at the week-end.

He was third under topweight of 9-12 to the Donald Grant Memorial at Washdyke and will be one of the stronger form runners in the Whyte Handicap, in which he will drop to 9-0. Plans to take the Wingatui stablemates, Cashmere and Milord, to Trentham were abandoned when they ran badly at Washdyke on Saturday Their owner, Mr C. H. Wallis, took them home.

Napoleon Bonaparte has been rehandicapped 41b to 10-11 in the Mariri Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Trentham. He will be taken north with his stablemates, Compensate and Arctic Sun. on Thursday. Cowan to Ride A. Cowan will ride Napoleon Bonaparte and Arctic Sun in their Trentham eniaagements. The leading Jockey, W D Skelton, will ride Fairassan in the Whyte Handicap at Trentham.
