New Cabinet In Jordan

The Jordanian Prime Minister (Mr Bahjat Talhuni) formed a new 11-man Cabinet last night to succeed his outgoing Cabinet, that resigned only a few hours earlier. No reason was given for the moves, the Associated Press reported. Mr Talhuni formed his first Cabinet on August 30 last year after the assassination of the Prime Minister <Mr Hazza Majali) in a .bomb attack on the Government building in Amman. In his letter of resignation he told King Hussein that “the difficult circumstances during which I took over office do not exist any more.”

But the King then assigned Mr Talhuni to form a new Cabinet. Four Ministers were dropped in the reshuffle. They are the former Minister of the Interior <Mr Faleh Madad'ia), the former Minister of' Foreign Affairs (Mr Muza Nasser), the former Minister for Education (Sheikh Amin Shanqiti), and the former Minister of Justice (Mr Mohammed Ali Jabari). The new Cabinet is: Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister, Mr Bahjat Talhuni; Education, Mr Raflc Husseini; Interior and Justice, Mr Hassan Kateb; Defence. MrWisfi Mirza; Economy, Mr Jalil Harb; Communications, Mr Abdul Majeed Murtada: Social Affairs and Chief Justice, Mr Bashore Sabbag; Public Works. Mr Yacoub Maumer; Finance, Mr Hashem Jayussi; Health, Dr. Jamil Tutunji; and Agriculture, Mr Nasduh Taher.
