Soviet Spy Allegation (N Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright> NEW YORK. June 29 The Soviet Union has asked the First Secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Moscow to leave the Soviet Union because of alleged espionage activities, the Soviet News Agency Tass reported today, according to a Reuter report received in New York from Moscow. Tass said that the Soviet Foreign Ministry asked the First Secretary (Mr Yakov Sharet) to leave “because he was caught red handed while engaged in espionage." The Ministry also drew the attention of the Israeli Embassy to the "impermissibility’’ of such actions by the Embassy staff, Tass said. Mr Sharet. who arrived in the Soviet Union in June. 1960, travelled to various areas of the Soviet Union establishing spy contacts and illegally spreading antiSoviet Zionist literature, Tass said. The report said that he was caught red-handed at a spy meeting he had organised at the moment when he was trying to obtain secret documents.
