Safety Belts Supported (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 28. Injuries suffered in four of five recent accidents would have been much less serious had the passengers been equipped with safety belts. Mr F. G. Farrell. Auckland, told today's meeting of the North Island Motor Union council. “I don’t think the average New Zealander realises the destruction accidents are causing on the roads,” he' said. Mr Farrell suggested that safety belts should be as essential to the motorist as crash helmets are to the motor-cyclist.
