Junior Chamber Gives £4OO A cheque for £4OO was presented by the PapanuiBeifast Junior Chamber to toe City Council tor children’s play equipment for Edgar Macintosh Park, Condell avenue, last evening. The chamber collected the money as its first major project since its formation last August. Christmas trees were sold in December and a raffle for a television set was conducted. The raffle was drawn last evening. The president of toe chamber (Mr N. Strack) presented the cheque to Cr. P. J. Skellerup. Mr Strack said that the City Council could ask toe chamber at any time for such assistance. Cr. Skellerup said that the council would see that swings, a slide, and a seesaw were installed and maintained. Mr Skellerup also drew the raff!? for the chamber.

Later in toe evening the diredrtor of parks and reserves In Christchurch (Mr H. G’. Gilpin) addressed the meeting on his trip overseas.
