Crime Before Revolution
(N Z.P.A -Reuter—Lonvnpht, SEOUL. June 23. The South Korean ruling council announced fast nigh: a retro-active special punishment law which would ap[% to trials of the Military Revolutionary Court. The seven-article punishment taw provides a maximum sentence of death or Mfe imprisonment for antiState. anti-nation and counter-revolutionary crimes committed before the military revolution on May 16 and thereafter The law. which was announced by the Government radio, provides in part: — Death or imprisonment to those Bound guilty of leaking information on the May 16 plot, or those who opposed it. Death or imprisonment for leadens of a political party which acted "knowingly” against the interest of the State. Death or imprisonment for those guilty of playing a "major role” in election irregularity. Death or imprisonment for those who played a leading role in collective hooliganism. The announcement said the retro-active law covers prescribed crimes commioled Brom 1958 to now.
