Upsets In N.I. Section (NZ Presb Asauciatton) . WELLINGTON. June 14. Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay pained the lead when the .\urth Island women's interprovincial Russell Grace Cup competition was continued at the Miramar golf Jinks today. The individual honours rested with the Hawke’s Bay-Poverty “f’y Player, Miss Merryn Stubbs. Cup points, after three of seven rounds, are: Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay, 14J; Auckland. 13i; Wellington. 11 J; Taranaki. 8i; Thames Valley-Bay of Plenty. 8: Waikato-King Country, 7|: Manawatu-Wanga-nui, 6; Northland, 21. Miserable Conditions Conditions for both rounds today were miserable. Players were lashed by a biUng southerly, and were also subjected to intermittent drizzle. Miss Stubbs's golf was of the highest order and accounted for two New Zealand representatives. She edged out Miss Una Wickham in the morning and, after the break, beat Mrs B. Middleton. of Waikato, after being two under par at the turn. The day was not without surprises. A below-form Auckland No. 1, Miss S. Chapman, was soundly beaten by Mrs R V. Nowell (Taranaki) and earlier. Mrs R. Laueeson (Mana-tu-Wanganui) edged out Mrs Middleton with par figures for the last hole.
