Opposition to any move to decontrol meat prices was expressed by the Consumer Council todav, in support of the Tauranra Consumer .Association and the Auckland District Consumer Committee. After a press report of a request by the Master Butchers' Federation for removal of controls, the Tauranga association had written to the Minister of Industries and Commerce <Mr Marshall) asking him not to accede to the request, the council was told. This attitude was supported unanimously by the Auckland district committee. Tauranga suggestions for the issue of New Zealand standard specifications for grades of meat were referred to the Standards Institute for consideration.
