INSPECTION OF HOUSES
State Advances Responsibility (N Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. The extent of State Advances Corporation inspections of new houses for which corporation money is being advanced was raised in a Consumer Council discussion today, says a supplied report. The council was advised by the Dunedin District Consumer Committee that it understood State Advances inspections were made only to the extent of establishing the existence of security, for the corporation was not a party to the contract with the builder. The purchaser should arrange for his own inspections to make sure .hat specifications were being met. “The committee is concerned at the number of prospective purchasers who are influenced by inferences, in advertisements, that houses are built according to State Advances specifications and under State Advances supervision." said the letter. “This is of vital importance to the young home purchaser." The council decided to approach the State Advances Corporation to find out ail the facts, with a view to circulating information to all members of Consumer Service.
