MARKET FOR N.Z. BEER
Opportunities In Pacific “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, June 12. A determined sales promotion drive could capture 90 per cent, of the Pacific beer market for New Zealand, said Mr J. B. Barry, overseas representative for New Zealand Breweries, Ltd. He has just returned from a successful sales promotion tour of Fiji, Western Samoa, and American Samoa which coincided with the tour of the New Zealand Government Trade Commissioner for the Pacific (Mr K. W. Davies). Mr Barry, whose efforts opened up the United States and Hawaiian markets to New Zealand beer, said the Pacific area was now dominated by beers brewed in England, Germany and Australia. The Pacific was prepared to buy from New Zealand, said Mr Barry. “There appears to me every reason for New Zealand to begin a vigorous sales campaign to capitalise on the exploratory -work of Mr Davies.” he said. “I am convinced that the New Zealand manufacturers who make the effort can sell in competition with most countries seeking to consolidate in the area.”
