THIS GIANT REDWOOD TREE by the Main North road was felled to make way for road widening to form the new four-lane highway. The tree, at least 100 years old, was one of four redwoods planted by Mr Preston, an early settler, to mark the birth of each of his sons. TOP LEFT: The tree falling. TOP RIGHT: Mr E.
