Dr. Toyotome At University The mission conducted at the University of Canterbury during this week by Dr. M Toyototne. under the auspices of the Evangelical Union, will end today. Dr. Toyotome has addressed gatherings of about 250 students in the evenings and and about 150 during lunch hours. During the afternoons he has been available for consultations with students. Dr. Toyotome was born in Japan but has lived in the United States since he was 10. He graduated with a master of arts degree in physical chemistry from the University of California, and later worked as a research chemist with a vitamin manufacturing firm in Hollywood. He was awarded a doctorate in philosophy by Columbia University for his thesis on “The Poetic Images and Structures in the Sayings of Jesus.’’ Similar missions were conducted by Dr. Toyotome at Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Otago. At Canterbury he has been assisted by the Rev. W. Hutchinson and Mr K. Ralph.
He will leave Christchurch tomorrow for Los Angeles.
