Commenting on the growing interest British women are Rowing in golf. Miss Mary Thornton. secretary of the Ladies’ Golf Union, said to the Daily Mail”: “We are completely independent of the men. In America and on the Continent men run women's clubs; but our ladies’ union has nothing to do with the men at ail. ‘The only discrimination against women these days in golfing Is at the bar.” The women’s main contribution to club finances is the money they spend on lunches and teas. They get more opportunity to play, so spend more time and money at the clubs. “I think the men are at last accepting us on equal terms. They find that the women’s touch tn domestic matters, like putting up curtains and arranging flowers, makes the place more comfortable for them," said Miss Thornton.
