Executive Meets
A of the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference was held in Christchurch on Friday, May 26. The main points from a press release are:—
Change of Venue: The Masterton club wrote to the conference intimating that it would race at Hutt Park permanently. Subject to Ministerial approval, it was decided to grant the Otaki Trotting Club’s application that the club be allowed to race at Hutt Park Raceway for the 1961-452 season. Television: It was agreed that the incoming president (Mr W. H. Rocfce) and the North Island vice-president (Mr R. J. Rolfe) be appointed to interview the Director of Broadcasting (Mr J. H. E. Schroeder) to ascertain his views on telecasting race meetings. Extra Permits: It was reported that a sub-committee wag at present preparing submissions on additional racing permits, and it was hoped to present these personally to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr GoUi soon.
Fines: Mrs K. Craig, who allowed her horse Able Hanover to start in a qualifying race, run over 12 furlongs, when not permitted to do so under the Rules of Trotting, was fined £5. The owners, who permitted their unqualified horses Rocktfellow. Imperial Sandy and Creggan, to start in the River Handicap at the Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting on March 8, 1961 were fined £5 in respect <rf each horse. Proprietary Foods: It was de-
aided to issue a leaflet witl the new season's trainers' licences advising of the daneei in using proprietary foods without first ascertaining that nc prohibited drugs were included in the foods. T.A.8.: Mr W. E. Desmonc was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Totalisator Agency Board. Brabin Case: It was decided that the committee to hear the charge against the placing oi the horse Bra-bin. which returned a positive swab afte: wanning the Wreys Bush Handicap at the Wairio Trotting Club's recent meeting, comprise Messrs J. E Farrell a member of the executive J B. Scott, and J. W. Holley. Transfer: It was decided that Mrs N. Cummings, who had applied to transfer her unnamed u. Scott filly, be informed that the executive would give its consent to the transaction only if the sale was an absolute one
