NUISANCE FROM SMOKE

Riccarton Mayor To Call Meeting

“I am writing to ask if anything can be done to stop the smoke nuisance in the district,” said a letter to the Mayor of Riccarton (Mr E J. Bradshaw), read at a meeting of the Riccarton Borough Council last evening. "I am elderly and suffering in health from air pollution.” the letter continued. The letter was unsigned, and the only address given was Mandeville street. The council had earlier decided to ask the managers and general managers of companies in the Mandeville street area to attend a meeting to be arranged by Mr Bradshaw.
