U.S. Policy

Sir, —The anti-communism servile pen of T. E. Shaw serves the interests of a handful of monopoly militarists interests who profit from the cold war. Information in today's press of burning buses, injured people, and armed marshals shows how the anti-democratic Ku Klux Klan organisation flouts democracy, and gives a clear picture of American internal and external contradictions in policy. Were the Harlem Globe Trotters an advertisement for this type of democracy? Anti-commun-ism, which is indicative of deep capitalist ideological crisis and extreme decline in capitalist ideology, always resorts to monstrous distortions of Marxist doctrine and crude slander against the socialist system, and presents communists’ policies and objectives in a false light, so as to carry out witch hunts against democratic forces and organisations. The arms race is not a war deterrent. It leads to war.—Yours, etc.. PROGRESS. May 22, 1961.
