DEALING IN DRUGS
Man Fined £3O (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 25 Dealing in drugs was sinister and very much frowned upon in civilised countries. Mr W. S. Spence said in the Auckland Magistrate's Court today in fining a 33-year-old man £3O on a charge of having a dangerous drug in his possession. The man's name was suppressed. Last week he pleaded guilty. The Police Prosecutor, Mr A W. Jeffries, said then that the man first told police that seeds found in his house were from African marigold. Later he went to the police voluntarily and told them it was an Indian drug.
Today Mr Spence said the man was "an extraordinarily stupid individual" who had become involved in a very wide sense in drugs He said that as far as he knew there had been no attempt to traffic in the drug. He warned that the law provided for a very strong penalty.
