W.O.F. STICKERS

A.A. Supports Issue Of Duplicates

Motorists who have had the windscreens of their cars damaged or have lost their warrant of fitness stickers through any other cause have difficulty in obtaining duplicates. As a result of this, the Automobile Association (Canterbury) suggested two years ago that provision should be made for the motorist to receive an additional copy of the warrant. No action was then taken on the association's suggestion.

At its meeting last evening, the association’s council received a letter from the Commissioner of Transport which had been passed on from the South Island Motor Union. The commissioner’s letter said suggestion had been made that an additional copy of the warrant should be supplied, and sought opinions. “We originally took this matter up because we found that the Christchurch City Council's testing station would not issue duplicates in the event of a warrant being lost or defaced.” said the secretary (Mr E. E. Palliser). The council will write supporting the suggestion.

Thrice Washed Overboard. —A Perth master painter. Arthur DufaU. has been brought into Sydney' harbour after drifting for 22 days in his sloop. Dufall was without food for at least five days, but had water. He told reporters that he was washed overboard from his 21ft sloop three times “but somehow managed to get back aboard.”—(Reuter).
