PRODUCER BOARDS

Meeting To Hear Views

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 25. The Government has invited representatives of all primary producer boards to a meeting next Tuesday to hear the Government’s views on probable British membership of the European Common Market. The Minister of Overseas

Trade (Mr Marshall) is expected to give representatives an outline of current negotiations with the British Government. Mr Marshall is also expected to outline compensatory arrangements for the entry of New Zealand produce which the Government thinks should be a condition of Britain’s entry into the Common Market. Other members of the Cabinet economic sub-committee will probably attend the meeting. The Joint Council of Labour, which comprises representatives of the executives of the Labour Party and the Federation of Labour, will meet in Wellington on Monday. It is understood that the meeting will discuss the significance for New Zealand of British membership of the Common Market.
