T.A.B. TICKET THEFT
Winning Double Of £313 2s (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 23. Janson Noa, aged 24. a machine operator, of Panmure, was convicted in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of stealing a Totalisator ’ Agency Board ticket valued at £313 2s. Mr W. S. Spence. S.M., remanded Noa in custody one week for sentence. The police prosecutor (Mr F. Anderson) said the complainant. Victor Kingi. had gone to the T.A.B. and placed a bet on a double. Kingi later met Noa and heard that his pick for the first leg of the double had won.
Kingi and Noa went to a hotel at Papakura, where Noa learned that Kingi's pick for the second leg had won. Noa told Kingi that Black Lad had won the second leg. when in fact Seafarer bad won.
Kingi gave Noa his ticket*, said Mr Anderson, thinking them worthless. Noa tore some of them up, keeping the winning ticket. Noa was apprehended when he tried •o cash the ticket at the T.A.B.
