Two Soccer Tests To Be Televised

WELLINGTON. May 23. Films of England-New Zealand soccer internationals will be shown on Channel 2. Auckland's television station, next month. The tests, in Wellington, on June 5, and Auckland on June 10, will be telecast on June 8 and 12 respectively. The New Zealand Football Association gave permission tonight for televising the matches. A message from Auckland says people with strong views of the quality of television programmes and commercials will have a chance to air them next week, at a public meeting called by the Television Society of New Zealand. “Amount of Violence” "Although the Broadcasting Service is doing a good job in many ways, most of our members are unhappy about the amount of violence on television, and the untimely intrusion of commercials into programmes,” said the president of the society, Mr R. B Waddell, today. “One of our members counted 37 people shot on television on one Saturday night, and some other nights are almost as bad. Tombleson (Gisborne). Mr A. E Allen (Franklin), and Mr D. N. Mackay (Marsden), is not expected to have been able to consider the submissions in time to make concrete recommendations to Thursday’s or Friday’s meeting of the National Party caucus.
