STATUTES FOR COURT
Criticism From Bench
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, May 22.
It is likely that the cost is preventing the Court of Arbitration from receiving three copies of the annotated Statutes—a state of affairs that drew adverse comment from the Bench today. During the hearing of an application for a new award for the New Zealand (except Otago-Southland) Retail Chemists, Mr Justice Tyndall expressed dissatisfaction that the Registrar was able to produce only one copy of the Statutes for the three members of the Court, though the Labour Department had been asked for more. Asked about the position this evening, the assistantSecretary of Labour, Mr H. Parsonage, said he had not had an opportunity of studying the Correspondence on the subject
"Probably it is a question of whether the cost of several hundred pounds involved to provide three full sets of Statutes was really justified.”
