N.Z. POST OFFICE ASSOCIATION

Presentation To Mr E. Cayless

The general secretary of the New Zealand Post Office Association (Mr J. G. Churchill) travelled from Wellington on Thursday to make a presentation to Mr E. Cayless, who was retiring from the secretaryship of the Canterbury branch of the association after 15 years in the position. The occasion was the annual general meeting of the branch. The presentation comprised a gold wrist watch for Mr Cayless and a silver tea service for Mrs Cayless, the gifts of branch members. Mr Cayless, who is a technician in the central automatic exchange, intends to retire from the Post Office at the end of the year. Mr J. P. O’Gorman was elected the new secretary. The other officers elected were Messrs C. L. Harwood (chairman) and C. G. W. Deans (vice-chairman), both, re-elected. The branch committee members are appointed from the various branches of the service.

Mr Churchill gave an address on general matters concerning the association.
