DOUBLE AT FOXTON
Embrace And Double Gain
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, May 19. Arid and Embrace, winner and runner-up respectively in the Woodville May Handicap at their latest appearances, are likely to dispute favouritism in the Foxton Gold Cup tomorrow. At the revised weights Embrace could reverse the placings with Arid. The Foxton Gold Cup is the first leg of the T.A.B. double, which will be completed by the Kebbell Memorial Handicap. Other cup candidates with recent form recommendations include Fair Kinj* Earl Robin, Shona Kildare. Golden Candidate, Happy Luca, Le Don, Harsh, Naughty and Our Sal. The second leg bears an open appearance, but on the track work Double Gain deserves respect. Embrace now meets Arid on 41b better terms as a result of his half-length defeat at Woodville. Embrace’s outings have been nicely spaced in recent weeks, and he should come into the field at his peak. Arid missed some work last week, but his final trial on Thursday left no doubt that he is at peak again. The going should suit both Embrace and Arid.
