Transport Licensing Appeal

An appeal by Miles and Withers. Ltd., (Mr M. G. L. Loughan) against a decision of the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. S. Haywood) on the carriage of petroleum products from the Waipara county to the Cheviot county has been allowed in part by the Transport Licensing Appeal Authority (Judge Archer). The appellant objected to the granting of an extension of exemption to the Cheviot Lime Company Ltd., (Mr J. A. Bretherton) to carry petroleum products from Cheviot to Claverley, and against the declining of the appellant’s own application for a similar exemption. The decision granting the extension to the Cheviot Lime Company Ltd., was confirmed by Judge Archer, and an amended application by Miles and Withers, Ltd., for exemption was granted.
