S.I. FREEZING WORKS
Submissions To Committee
The South Island Freezing Works committee, established by the Meat Producers' Board to decide whether a new freezing works is needed in the South Island, is inviting submissions. Submissions must reach the secretary of the committee, Mr S. Swift, P.O. Box 121, Wellington, by July 24. Among the questions the committee will decide if it is found that a new freezing works is required, are where the new works should be located with particular reference to the needs of Central Otago; the initial size of the works and the potential output by 1970-75: the cost of the works and the best form of finance, and the extent to which the works would affect other works in the South Island both when operations commence and by 1970-75. If the committee decides that a new freezing works is not required, it is to report on the expected increase in the Otago kill of mutton and lamb by 1970-75, and on what arrangements will be available to the existing works to handle the increased amount of work. The members of the committee are Messrs C. G. Trotter (chairman), S. D. Reeves, and E. R. McKillop.
