SALVATION ARMY APPEAL
£2300 Collected In City
More than £2300 was raised by the Salvation Army in its street appeal yesterday. Two hundred members of the Salvation Army collected £2200 in the citv and Ri'carton, and more'than £lOO came from a stall which sold jams, produce, and drapers-. The collection was £3OO more than last year's. "It was a very good dav,” said Brigadier F Searle, commander of the Canter-bury-Westland division of the Salvation Armv. "We wish to thank the public for their confident and generous giving. The money will be of great benefit to the work of the Salvation Army.” The .difference in the design of tags given to the public was explained bv Brigadier Searle.
“We had such a phenomonal rush early in the day fo’ the ones we had printed this year that we had to use some left over from previous years." he said Pins had not been attached "o some of the new tags in time, he said.
