PROPOSED EXTENSION OF LANCASTER PARK STAND
Plans for proposed addi- • r s to the No. 1 stand at Lancaster Park have been prepared, and advice front t-.e New Zealand Rugby V -on on a request for a loan ■- being awaited by the Canterbury union. The additions would seat 1900 It is intended to demolish the No. 2 stand in tenons to allow for the ex- • esion of the No. 1 stand. T.e No. 2 stanef holds 450. The extension would have t-.e same profile as the exiting stand, with a change ' direction towards the No. 3 ' and. Underneath prows n has been made for a re'-aurant of 3000 sq. ft. proposal was in the air, said Mr H. C. Blazey, president of the union. A decision depended on an answer from the New Zealand union on the loan request. The remainder of the cost would be met by the membership scheme. Mr Blazey said that if the stand was built it would be ready in plenty of time for the games against England in 1963.
